Mendelsohn's buildings, which he left as a trail of his life’s journey, are landmarks of modern architecture and are spread on 3 continents. Many of the buildings are now used as public spaces presenting cultural activities, such as the Schaubuenne Theater in Berlin, the Weizmann Institute in Israel and the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill, England. Other buildings are now active as hospitals, libraries and museums. As a tribute to Mendelssohn's legacy, we are planning to launch special screenings of the film in 12 of Erich Mendelsohn’s buildings around the world. So far, we have already received strong positive reactions and have began to book screenings, hosts and lecturers. We are now starting to schedule the events for 2011-2012.
Every screening can be preceded by a guest lecture and a reception event. These events can attract the general public in each location, architects, city conservation planners, art historians as well as art fans.
The "Mendelsohn Legacy Tour" opening event took place on October 26th at the Weitzmann Institute for Science in Rehovot. A turnout of more than 700 spectators packed the screening and the 4 tours to the Mendelsohn’s buildings at the Institutes's campus.
Up until today, we have received invitations from 14 different film festivals around the world. This is a very early stage of distribution, but so far the reviews are excellent and the vibe is growing strong.
